Everything Genetic partners with Healthscope (UK) to provide point of care COVID-19 antibody testing for employers

Point of Care COVID-19 Antibody TestingWe’re pleased to announce that Everything Genetic has formed a social enterprise partnership with occupational health and safety specialists, Healthscope (UK) to provide routine point of care COVID-19 antibody testing in the workplace.

Using our COVIDtesting Antibody POC testing kits, Healthscope (UK)’s trained healthcare professionals will visit your place of work to test up to 400 staff members in one day.

This test is used for the detection of antibodies in people who have already been infected by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) that causes the COVID-19 disease.

By identifying those employees who have already been infected by the virus, employers will be able to make informed decisions about employees returning to or continuing to work in order to protect their workforce during the coronavirus pandemic. This is particularly important as there is growing evidence that many people can have the virus but not show any symptoms.

Elaine Higson, Director at Healthscope (UK) Ltd said:

“The occupational health testing service is specifically designed for companies and their employees to be tested in their workplace so that there is minimal downtime. Our team of healthcare professionals will come and test a company’s whole team on-site, with all data being shared with Public Health England as part of the government’s COVID-19 track and trace initiative.”

Our CEO, James Price explains why employers can have confidence in the test results:

“There is so much uncertainty in the UK at the moment about how employers can access testing for their staff and surrounding the standard of tests that are available on the market. As two reputable UK firms with experience in our respective areas – diagnostic testing and occupational health and safety – we’re proud to be able to make this service available to employers in support of our country getting back to work.”

“We use a 6th generation antibody test for this point of care service. It has a higher sensitivity and specificity compared to earlier generation tests. It is also CE marked, approved by the FDA and accepted by MHRA for use by a healthcare professional.

“By using a test of this standard, there is greater accuracy in case findings of employees who have already been infected by the virus and increased confidence in the test results,” added James.

With results provided in a matter of minutes at point of care, removing the need for all samples to be analysed in a laboratory, makes workforce testing a lot more convenient as well as cost-effective, whilst enabling businesses to continue operating safely.
