Everything Genetic is pleased to announce that its testing laboratory, the Berkshire and Surrey Pathology Service (BSPS), is now the first UK laboratory to receive ISO 15189 accreditation from the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) to perform testing requirements for the Prosigna® breast cancer prognostic gene signature.
The laboratory has undergone a long and rigorous audit process by UKAS inspectors of its Prosigna® testing processes. Assessments have been made of the laboratory’s patient sample collection process, interpretation of results, acceptable turnaround times, as well as inspection of how it educates and trains its medical laboratory users and consults with health care staff.
“It is an honour to be the first UK laboratory to achieve accreditation for the Prosigna® testing service. At BSPS, we are committed to achieving and maintaining the highest standard of quality and service in all aspects of our laboratory testing,” said Dr Nadine Collins (Consultant Clinical Scientist), Head of Department – Molecular Diagnostics at Berkshire and Surrey Pathology Services. “This commitment is underpinned by the hard work of our team resulting in achieving this accreditation.”
“We are immensely proud of BSPS. Achieving the ISO 15189 accreditation is no mean feat and we congratulate Nadine, Bruno, and his team for their hard work and commitment,” said Everything Genetic CEO, James Price.
“We are committed to providing a first-class genetic testing service to all of our clinical partners and their patients. In order to deliver on this commitment, it is essential that we partner with laboratories who can demonstrate the highest quality standards.”
“We understand the importance of the medical laboratory to patient care. Therefore, for those who use our Prosigna® breast cancer prognostic service, this accreditation will give added assurances that their testing requirements will be performed to the highest standards for the provision of timely and accurate results,” added James.
