As an innovative, forward-thinking business, we are always looking at new ways to improve the quality of service we provide our customers across our genetic testing brand portfolio.
One area that we did identify an opportunity to make such an improvement was our BRCA testing service.
In November 2020, we made a decision as a company to bring our BRCA testing service fully in-house having previously outsourced some aspects of the service since it was launched.
In doing so, we have entirely in place our own clinical governance framework, logistics infrastructure, and pre and post-patient consultancy service to provide a seamless service to our clinical partners and their patients:
- We have appointed our own internal Medical Director and Clinical Director
- We have engaged the services of trusted external companies to provide us with ongoing support in respect of safe working and sample handling practices
- We have invested heavily in forming our own logistics hub based in the UK’s North West region, providing us with complete control and transparency over the test distribution process
- We continue to invest in developing our custom online portal and the addition of our own brand locally validated assays
Our CEO James Price said: “By bringing this testing service fully in-house, we firmly believe that we can now offer a significantly improved quality of service with faster turnaround of sample collection, reporting of results, and responding to queries, as well as the safer handling of patient samples and data.
“BRCAtesting is a vital part of our overall hereditary genetic cancer testing service. We expect, off the back of the coronavirus pandemic, to see an increase in demand for this test as more of us realise the importance of taking control of our health and wellbeing. It is important therefore that we have the right infrastructure in place to provide our customers with an excellent standard of service and we are very proud to now be in a position to deliver this from in-house,” added James.
Everything Genetic’s BRCAtesting service analyses up to 30 genes associated with the most common hereditary cancers: breast, colorectal, melanoma, endometrial, prostate, ovarian, stomach and uterine. We partner with the Color and Invitae laboratories to provide this service and includes pre and post-test consultations with our UK & International Medical Director, Dr James Mackay.
